I designed this flight for a friend’s father’s bar. The bar had a bourbon theme with oak barrel tables and darker hard wood accents. I focused on representing a barrel as much as possible while maintaining a classy design. This flight was fun to make and I learned some skills during the process.

The flight was made with a 1”x6” walnut board and a 1/4” thick oak spacer laminated in the middle. The curved top and bottom was achieved by using a belt sander for the top and a spindle sander for the bottom. Handles on each side were milled out of the bottom as to not disrupt the curve. Forstner bits were used to drill the holes. Everything was then hand sanded to 320 grit and sprayed with a satin finish lacquer. Old oak barrel straps were cut and epoxied to the sides. The cork pads were hand cut and glued in. Clear rubber pads were placed on the bottom. The final dimensions came out to be 14”x5.5”
